2007
Mason High School Season

|
Junior, Katie Wills
started at 3rd base for the third year
for the Mason Comets. Katie plays in the highly
competitive
Fort Ancient Valley Conference.
The Mason Comets Varsity team advanced to the Final
Four state tournament for the first time in school
history. When asked about the season, she said her
most memorable moment was the team winning the
regional semi-final against Fairfield. What a
Win! is how The Community Press recounted the
victory. The Pulse Journal likened the
Comets state run to a Cinderella story. It was
magic, but it was a team of determined players.
Words from the
Coach….“Katie is a stand-out player, in whom, a
coach and a team can depend.” Brian Castner
In addition to playing
softball, Katie Wills also likes to volunteer her
time when she can. For the last several years
she has been collecting used videos and DVDs for
Children’s Hospital and for the families that stay
at the Ronald McDonald House. |

|
Katie, for the second consecutive season, came into
pre-season work-outs ready to play softball. She
anchored the left side of our infield. She
communicated well with her pitcher, catcher, shortstop,
and left fielder. Katie has a very good glove and
excellent release.
Offensively, Katie has the best swing in our program
Katie is part of the core of our team both offensively
and defensively. She is extremely self-motivated
to improve. Katie
has a very good understanding of defensive and offensive
mechanics. She is always willing to do whatever a
coach asks of her. She is a true-team player
encouraging and motivating her team mates.

She is an extremely hard worker who makes it her mission
to please her coaches and get better every day.
Katie’s toughness won her a starting position on a

|
Katie Wills was
an integral part of the Cincy Storm offense and defense.
Defensively, Katie split her time between 3rd base
and catcher with some time in RF. She had very few bases
stolen on her. She was able to consistently make the tough
plays at 3rd
base and at catcher. Highlights of the 2006 Travel

bracket of the Colorado Sparkler tournament, coming in at the
top in several tournaments and doing well against the toughest
competition all summer.
